RESOURCE OVERVIEW:

In this activity pupils go on a hunt around their school to discover, and map the location of, devices connected to their school’s network. Pupils then learn about the role of each device by either conducting web-based research or using the matching activity included.

PUPIL OBJECTIVES:

  • I can name devices on a computer network.
  • I can explain the purpose of certain devices on a computer network.

TEACHING ASSESSMENT OPPORTUNITIES:

  • Informal teacher assessment of pupils during main task and plenary. Focus on understanding of the different network devices and their roles.
  • Formal assessment of pupils’ sketch maps indicating devices identified and details of their role.
